Türkçe, Almanca, İngilizce sözlere sahip şarkılar, değişken ritmler, nefesli sazlar ve akordeonla buluştuğunda, birçok tarzın bir araya geldiği eklektik ama en önemlisi pozitif ve eğlenceli bir müzik ortaya çıkıyor. Altı kişiden oluşan grubun vokalisti Spar’ın en önemli özelliği elindeki megafonu ve sahnedeki dinamizmi. 2006 Şubat’ında çıkan klişelerden uzak ama birçok yönden Türk folk müziğini anımsatan “Zirzop” albümüyle geçen sene Amadeus Ödülü’ne aday gösterilen grup, Avusturya Kültür Ofisi’nin katkılarıyla 19 Mart Cuma gecesi daha önce salladıkları GHETTO’nun sahnesinde yine kalbinizi çalmaya geliyor.
The hot Viennese band Fatima Spar and the Freedom Fries will perform songs from their albums "Zirzop" and “Trust” in their third appearance at GHETTO. Fatima, a second-generation Turkish-Austrian, leads the group with her magical Billy Holiday-like voice and her signature megaphone.
The band is one of Austria’s most successful music exports of the last years: good old New Orleans swing, Balkan style gypsy-brass, Anatolian folk – the Freedom Fries melt it together and come up with music so fresh and fiery that it has driven crowds mad all over Europe. All members of the band, which has been dubbed the first post–Ottoman swing band, have their roots in different post-Ottoman and post-Austrian empire countries. Fatima Spar sings in Turkish and English and has been highly praised for her unique, warm and versatile voice.
